I grew up in the Bay of Plenty where easy access to its sweeping beaches and rocky bays ingrained lasting impressions of, and a great respect for, the beauty of nature. I have always been fascinated in the extraordinary perfection it creates; the superb details you can only see when you look closely – in particular, an attraction to the sea, sand, shells and all beach flotsam and jetsam.
I am predominantly self taught, through experimenting and trial and error!! Now currently residing in a rural area of Auckland, I work mainly in acrylic and use layering and glazing techniques to create works that combine intricate detail and depth with bold sweeping strokes. My work is a study between the delicate patterns, textures and vibrant colours in nature.
I sell my artwork throughout New Zealand and overseas. I exhibit some of my artwork in Galleries and enter art competitions throughout New Zealand, where I have won several art awards. A small selection of my artworks are published as prints. In 2013 I was invited by Save the Children Fund to design and paint an artwork, the image I donated to their annual Christmas card fundraiser range. In 2015 and 2016 I was selected to feature in the New Zealand Art Calendar.
